Henry Yao is happy to call Richmond home and he is fighting for you on the issues that matter. Born in Taiwan, he moved to Richmond when he was young and is fluent in both English and Mandarin.

Henry’s call to public service is shaped by his personal experience with battling two different types of lymphoma. With the continual support of his friends and family, his cancer went into remission five years later – and he has been dedicated to making life better for the community ever since.

Henry is an active member of the community, and is committed to helping people in Richmond get ahead – improving the services we rely on, strengthening healthcare, working towards a clean environment, helping young adults develop career-building and leadership skills, and making life more affordable. Henry has worked hard to make sure young people have the opportunities and mentorship they need to thrive.

He has been involved in numerous local organizations, from the Youth Services Agency and Community Centre in Richmond to the local Chamber of Commerce and the Richmond Chinese Community Society. Henry has hosted many community fundraisers and local initiatives to protect and clean the environment, and he co-founded an organization dedicated to promoting safe, respectful, and constructive dialogues on difficult community topics.
